Street (campus) Fashion

So I like to do quick sketches of awesome outfits on campus, just picking up the main points of each outfit and moving on. There are really quick and not very neat, but some I may clean up and make formal drawings of them. A few are what I wore on certain days.

This was me one day with a sweatshirt and errings from Forever 21+ and a dress from Goodwill and some Torrid tights and a pair of Old Navy heels

Me again in a sheer blouse from Forever 21+, a skirt from Old Navy and oxfords from Target

Girl on the bus had the coolest orange button down with little crosses all over it under her giant sweatshirt.

Best outfit on campus this year.

My doppelganger, I wore this gorgeous kimono jacket and pin tucked skirt and leaf earrings from Forever 21, and my new kicks from Payless. Loved the outfit just decided to play with the body shape.
Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving.

Pictures Oh My!

So a bit of the nature photography that I like to do, along with my two kitty cats that I love because they are wonderfully soft and fuzzy. Sadly the girl (the one on the stairs) dislikes people and anything to do with them. No petting, no staring, no nothing. Yet of course she is the softest thing ever to be on this earth...and she won't let you pet her. How unfair right?! But of course she is still the cutest thing to look at. Not much of a post today, I'm scanning a bunch of my drawings so hopefully those will be up in a day or so.

Oh I almost forgot. This dress was added to the American site on Monday and I think I'm in love. It is simply fantastic! So flattering for so many people and a right proper length. So amazing for the holidays and for any mildly more dressed up even. With black tights and black shoes, its will sing.

Cheery & Bright

So I've been window shopping (online) and have found some of my favorite for this holiday season from ASOS. It's mainly a bunch of pieces I love but most definitely cannot afford at this point. But they are still fabulous and I wanted to share them.  By Number they are:

1. ASOS CURVE Faux Fur Coat with Contrast Hem $143.76
2. ASOS CURVE Jacket with Sequin Sleeve $134.78
3.ASOS CURVE Ovoid Coat in Black and Orange Check $179.70
4.ASOS CURVE Tulip Print Dress $64.69 (Sale)
5.ALDO Lewi Suede Platform Court
6. ASOS ARIBA Cuff Lace Up Ankle Boot $62.90
7. ASOS HARRIETTE Two Part Platform High Sandal $98.84
8. ASOS STRICTLY Lace Up Plaid Heel Shoes $80.87
9. ASOS CURVE Tweed Coat $170.72
10.ASOS BLACK Neoprene Laser Cut Waisted Dress $215.64
11.ASOS BLACK Half Moon Paillette Dress $269.55
12. ASOS BLACK Laser Cut Spot Cocoon Dress $170.72
13. ASOS BLACK Square Paillette Shift Dress $215.64

Goodness gracious I am so in love with these pieces. My favorite color is orange and so of course that jacket of orange and black check just screams my name as do the shoes. Though a bit Halloween for my taste, I feel like if you kept it with muted color tones or black and white it could stretch. Oh and that ASOS BLACK collection has stolen my heart. All the laser cutting creates some seriously sci-fi yet very classic looks that I am totally digging. That orange and blue circle dress is actually cut outs, it's hard to see in the picture!! That Tweed Jacket is so usable, I mean it could become the new staple in every wardrobe, and keep being so for years.

I love the Paillette trend going on right now, with the big Lucite fish scale sequins on skirts, shirts, and dresses. Such a fun piece to play with. Speaking of sequins, that blazer with those black sequin sleeves is here to stay my friends. I feel like it would be a staple just like the tweed coat, something to have to jazz up any outfit day or night. Without being too over the top with sequins.

I know the tulip dress is very spring, but I always love wearing patterns and colors not in keeping with the season sometimes, just to shake things up a little. Plus I've been lusting after the cut of the dress since it came out. It's just so show stopping.

That fur coat, I feel is very odd and I didn't really like it at first but the more I look at it the more possibilities I see in it, I mean its flattering with that darker on the bottom contrast, most likely warm, and so playful. I mean it would totally spice up any outfit on a cold winter morning. A little edge, a little fuzzy puppy feeling, but yet so cute and strong at the same time. Something you wouldn't expect. Which I most definitely love.

Plaid oh Plaid  I love thee, Those plaid heels are to die for. So very "of the moment" in my opinion. I have a bit of an obsession for plaid really. I'm currently rocking three different plaid flannels, a plaid bowling bag as a backpack, and a plaid scarf on a regular basis.

What's your favorite looks for fall?

Costumes

So here are a few costumes that I've done for class. I've used a couple of different mediums, mainly ink and watercolor, but a few pastels and some colored pencil mixed in as well. Oh and two digital ones I've been playing around with.

This one is a colored pencil sketch that I did for an assignment on line.
This was my interpretation of the Mad Hatter outfit for a style of Haute Couture.
Colored Pencil again, just a random one.
These two are the character Snake from " A School for Scandal" I love this one and the detailing, my teacher was tickled pink when she saw it, which made me quite happy.
This one is the character Lady Sneerwell from a ' A School for Scandal ' with her giant panniers.
A Lady Teazle from the same play.

Oh and we went to the mountains the other day, sooooo beautiful. They are predicting snow here. I hope it does not. I don't like trekking to class in the ice and snow.
And an Alice to my hatter for Haute Couture 'Alice in Wonderland ' Style

Picture Heavy Fashion

Good Morning, Boy have I just found a ton of pictures on my laptop that I so want to share. I promised a few costume designs for this post so here are two so far, I'm still scanning the rest.  Below is a wedding dress that I drew for a fifties version of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

This one is a mixed media homework assignment where I chose Liza from "Pygmalion" to do a design based on her character throughout the play. It was fun using leaves and flower petals to create a unique look, that had so much texture than the usual watercolors that I play around with.
This next bunch is from a fashion show I styled and directed in high school. The top three are my friend Deb's dress that she designed and made. She is a super amazing seamstress! It turned out to be such a lovely dress. Then came Brittany who was our power house designer. She designed and sewed 10 pieces for this show and modeled most of them herself. She was a freshman and so amazingly talented at re-working pieces to make them into something amazingly chic and fashion forward.

Below is a logo for fashion club that year, which put on the fashion show.I was president that year, and learned so much about delegation, trust and learning to rely on oneself for certain aspects of planning.  Was a great opportunity and I had so much fun doing it.
Well ciao for now I'll be back in a couple days. Hope your staying fabulous and fierce.

Lanvin and more

So for years some of my favorite advertisements have been Lanvin. The sheer punch that they have when you flip that magazine page is so dramatic. It captures me...it's art. The photography and the pieces are so astounding. The colors the lines, and everything else in between. Astounding.

I did a bit of fun water coloring to bring in my favorites from the last couple of years. Changing some colors and such but still trying to get that graphic shaped feel that even the softer fabrics still give. This sits on my desk and makes me smile, and inspires me to practice my water color some more.

Oh my friend did some really cool newspaper nails the other day, here are a few photos. Sorry for the lame cell phone pictures, the camera should be up and running soon so those will improve dramatically.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of these branches sprouting out of this thick tree trunk. Nature fascinates me on a science level and I just think of the struggle of that branch to make it to the sun light and to see it flourish so quickly is amazing. It's by some bike rack near my costuming class, and I always check on it's progress.
Next time I'll post some of the costume design I've been doing!!

Oh and who isn't in love with the new shoes from D&G, I mean how amazing are these. I would so totally rock these with some black skinny jeans and a great graphic print top and white lace blazer! Plus all the word pieces they showcased at fashion week. I'm in love. Words are definitely one of my favorite things on clothing because you get the unconscious reaction to the image and then the deeper thought process of the wording. Wonderful!
